As Deepavali is around the corner, a small greeting card is in order.

Sarasvathy Pooja

Sarasvathy Pooja (Navarathri) has always been an important festival in our home. Two generations ago we moved from agriculture to a knowledge based income. In our family we now have engineers, teachers, an architect, a lawyer, a dentist and an IT tech guy too. So every year we celebrate this special day for the deity for learning, knowledge and the arts, regardless of which country we happen to be in.

I just finished reading this book- "Sapiens- A brief history of humankind"by Dr. Yuval Noah Harari and enjoyed it thoroughly. I learnt a lot too. It inspired me to draw the above cartoon.

Coconut cows

In Sri Lankan curries, we usually use coconut milk. Where does coconut milk come from? Coconut cows of course!

Well. actually that's just a bit of artistic license.
